Penn Manor Youth Baseball & Softball

All players "Majors" age and older in our baseball program, are evaluated and placed at the level that is suitable for their current individual skills.

Our philosophy is to find where each kid can have the best chance to succeed on the field in hopes of building them into confident and stronger players as they progress through the program!

**Evaluations are held for Majors and LCYBL teams (10U/12U/14U)
FOR THE SPRING SEASON ONLY**

Tee Ball (In-House Program):

*Ages 4 & 5 (Coed)

The PMYBSA Tee Ball program is a great entry level instructional experience for both boys and girls. The emphasis is on teaching basic fundamentals while having FUN and learning what it's like to be on a team! We offer both Spring and Fall seasons. Each practice will last 60 minutes, while games will last between 60-75 minutes. All children will start by learning to hit off of the tee and those who are ready, at the discretion of the coach, may progress to hitting a coach pitch. The organization will provide all playing equipment for each team (i.e. bats, helmets, tee balls, etc.) except for a fielder's glove. Players may also bring their own equipment!

Fall Format:  One weeknight practice followed by a Saturday game each week. The Fall Tee Ball season typically starts the week after Labor Day and runs for six weeks.

Spring Format:  The goal is for one weeknight practice followed by a Saturday morning game.  **This is subject to change based on the amount of total teams in the program and field availability during the weekdays in the Spring.  Some Spring seasons Teeball may be ONLY Saturday meetings.**
The season will typically start the end of March and run until the beginning of June.

"Minors" (In-House Program):

*Typically ages 6 & 7

Minors will be strictly machine/coach pitch. Players will begin to learn about getting outs in the field. Games will be approximately 90 minutes long. Catchers will be introduced in this division. Score will not be kept and emphasis will be placed on playing the game the right way, creating a comfortable/positive environment for batters with coaches pitching, and taking the next step up from Tee Ball to learn more about baseball.

Fall Format: Practices will start in mid-August with games beginning after Labor Day Weekend. Teams will practice 1 time per week and play a Saturday game each weekend, after Labor Day. Six (6) games will be played on consecutive Saturdays.

Spring Format: Season will start at the beginning of April and continue until the beginning of June. Teams will have one weeknight practice followed by a Saturday game.

"Majors" (In-House Program):

*Typically ages 8 & 9

The emphasis of the Majors division will be to continue to develop fundamentals while starting to teach more about the game of baseball from a strategic/game/team standpoint to better prepare them for more competitive baseball as they grow as players and eventually play for our Lanco League levels in the LCYBL (listed below). Majors is mainly kid pitch with some coach pitch mixed in. Majors will consist of some modified rules compared to the 10U Lanco level. Score and standings will be kept (in the Spring) BUT emphasis should be on developing and teaching the game the right way. Players are strongly encouraged to wear face shields on their batting helmets.

Fall Format: Season will start in mid-August with games beginning after Labor Day Weekend. Teams will practice 1-2 times per week and play a Saturday game each week starting after Labor Day. Six (6) games will be played on consecutive Saturdays. There is NO End of Season Tournament in the Fall.

Spring Format: Evaluations will take place for this division over the winter to help create equal teams. Teams will be created by the end of February. Mid-to-end of March teams will begin practicing 2x's per week before the game schedule begins. Once games begin, the number of practices will decrease slightly and each team will play 1-2 times per week for the duration of the season (finish the first week of June). Games will typically be on Saturdays, with an occasional game during the week. Each team will play in our End of Season Tournament in early June, which will be played on a weekend, at Greider Park fields
.
